Shosoin (Treasure house of Todaiji Temple in Nara)

Unique and unusual designs representing the Silk Road culture were introduced to ancient Japan.

In Japan at that time, they were often used as patterns for temple ceremonies and treasures, as well as for the emperor's favorite items. Some of these treasures are still stored at Shosoin in Nara.

Even today, they are popular as magnificent patterns and used in kimono design.
